All in on Weightlifting

By Janet Townley, Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor

Are you choosing cardio over weightlifting? Do you think it burns more calories? Afraid of bulking up?

Weightlifting continues to burn calories long after your workout is over. The more muscle you build, the more calories your body burns throughout the day.

Most people who lift/strength train, become stronger and firmer, not bulky. It helps create definition, improves posture, supports balance and healthy aging.

Adding weightlifting to your routine accompanied with some cardio and proper nutrition will create the perfect opportunity for you to meet your health goals.

If you want better health, stronger metabolism, improved confidence and a more resilient body, start lifting weights!

GLP-1 Factor

Stronger Together

GLP-1’s work with diet and exercise. However, the focus is solely on weight loss and nothing else. Nobody mentions the amount of muscle lost while taking GLP-1’s.

Strength training becomes especially important while taking them. The goal is to lose fat, maintain strength, and support lifelong wellness.

While we don’t actually know the amount of muscle loss while on GLP-1’s, we also don’t have all the data in on them either. This is a fairly new drug class, and not all science is published yet.

I was on GLP-1’s for years and it wasn’t until I changed my diet and started to lift that the drugs started to help me gain results. While I’m completely off them now, lifting has helped me maintain my weight goals!
